Vanessa loved Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus, pictures by Jose Aruego. Nate enjoys it just as much. The illustrations are irresistible.The appeal of the text is mysterious since neither Vanessa nor Nate qualify as late bloomers.

I loved this book too! He really looks like he's smiling in that last one!
He actually seems to love all of the Robert Kraus books -- Milton the Early Riser, Leo the Late Bloomer, and (just this morning) Herman the Helper. He smiles and coos at the pictures and will seem engrossed for an astonishingly long time.
